Whit Friday success

May 28, 2024 By Andy Vail Leave a Comment

The rain just about held off and the band thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon and evening entertaining the crowds and impressing the adjudicators across Saddleworth. We competed at 6 venues - just enough to be included in the overall placings that are determined by pooling each band's best six results. We were the second placed band in our section at five of … [Read more...]

Busy week

May 23, 2024 By Andy Vail Leave a Comment

This week we'll be out on Saddleworth for the Whit Friday march contests. Hopefully we'll entertain the crowds with this year's chosen street march and then impress the … [Read more...]

Friends in high places

March 7, 2024 By Andy Vail Leave a Comment

We’re very proud of our Band President Mr Jonathan Coupe, who recently had the privilege of being invited to Number 10 Downing Street. Jonathan proudly wore his Flixton Band tie, and took the opportunity to 'fly the flag' for Flixton Band (and brass bands generally) to the assembled dignitaries. Jonathan has been our Band President for a great many … [Read more...]

Farewell and Welcome

February 27, 2024 By Andy Vail Leave a Comment

The time between Christmas and our Regional Championships often sees a small turn-over of players. This year we have said goodbyes to David Yerkess (soprano), Ruth Mulholland (cornet) and Connor Aldred (percussion). We wish them all well and hope to see them often at brass band events in the future. We welcome Josh McKeague on soprano and Nicki Moss on … [Read more...]

Welcome to Flixton Band

Flixton Band maintains a proud tradition of music making, which dates back over 140 years. The Band is currently graded first section by the National Brass Band Association of Great Britain, the highest of any Trafford Band. Flixton Band is currently self-funding and does not benefit from sponsorship. Flixton Band

The band re-formed in 1967, when it became known as the Flixton Silver Band, and was granted permission to use the Urmston coat of arms on band uniforms and stationery. To this day we still use the coat of arms in association with our band.

Flixton Band rehearses on Mondays and Thursdays at the Coach House on Flixton Road. Both rehearsals are 8pm to 10pm.

Thanks to a partnership formed in May 2013 our training band, the Flixton Community Band, rehearses at Flixton Junior School on Delamere Road from 10am to noon each Saturday.

Let’s hope it contributes towards bringing us even more success going forward!
