From Manchester, Mero is mainly a trumpeter and has been since his beginnings in the Warrington area under Richard Jones.
At high school, Mero picked up the cornet after watching Brassed Off and decided to switch the trumpet for a Bb cornet, which he played with Golborne Brass band. He progressed onto the soprano cornet after the departure of their previous player and stayed with the band for another year, this time on the soprano seat.
Mero left Golborne to join the Haslingden and Helmshore brass band, progressing from the 4th to the 2nd section.
Mero decided to pursue his undergraduate studies in popular music and performance at the University of Salford, starting his first year in 2024, under professor Dan Price, Robin Dewhurst and many more. He is currently studying the trumpet and Soprano cornet under Ben Richerton, formerly the soprano cornet player of the Black Dyke band.
