André Clarke – Eb Bass

1988 – 1997 & April 2019 – Present

André is an accomplished musician with a rich history in brass. He embarked on his musical journey at Fred Longworth High in Tyldesley, Manchester, mastering both cornet and violin. Joining the Wigan Schools brass band, he swiftly rose to principal cornet whilst also contributing to Tyldesley Band on soprano.

In 1988, André reunited with his mentor, Peter Lockett, at Flixton, dedicating a decade to the ensemble. After a brief hiatus he explored diverse bands like Rivington & Adlington and Pemberton Old, showcasing his versatility across instruments.

Now he’s back at Flixton, embracing the resonant tones of the Eb Bass. His passion resonates in favourites like Philip Sparke’s ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’. He also likes beer!
