Last week the band took part in the annual Whit Friday contests across Saddleworth. We marched down to an arrangement of “Don’t you want me, baby” and performed O.R.B. as our contest march.
It was an entertaining afternoon and evening. Great to be joined on the march by members of our Community Band and to see our now annual visitors from the Netherlands, who clearly enjoy this event as much as we do.
Particular mention for our principal cornet, Katie, whose impressive stamina meant she could keep playing the demanding cornet solos of O.R.B. all day.
We finished the evening at Delph, where an exuberant crowd appreciated our efforts and sang almost as loudly as we played. Success!
