There
are 3 trombones in a brass band: 2 tenors and a bass. The bass trombone acts
as a bumper end to the bass section but the player also works with the other trombones
as part of the trio. The 1st trombone works as a soloist but also closely with
the 2nd trombone. As a section the trombones often work with the backrow cornets, horns and baritones
supporting the rhythm and balance of the band.
