Soprano Cornet-
Simon Morgan
Simon started
playing trumpet at the age of 7 in Carmarthenshire. He progressed through the
youth music system from Carmarthenshire Wind Band, Brass Band and Orchestra, on
Trumpet, Cornet and Flugelhorn, through to County and National levels. At the
age of 15 he joined the Burry Port Town Band. The band had an extremely successful
period winning the Second Section twice, Section one and also Championship Section.
Simon then went to study Music under the likes of Philip Wilby, Roger Webster
and Bob Childs at the Leeds University and also worked with Ritchie Clendenin
and Paul Shagoyan at the CSU Fresno. Whilst studying, Simon played for
Yorkshire Evening Post, Crewe Co-op, EYMS and Carlton Main Frickley Bands but
still kept up contacts with his home band, Burry Port. After graduating Simon moved
back to Wales and continued to play for Burry Port until he moved to London. In 2002 work brought Simon to the North and he took up banding again with Flixton.
