Jon Paton- Solo Cornet

Jon began playing when he was eight, when his Dad brought a cornet home from school.

He moved onto trumpet. In a few short years, he was playing 1st Trumpet in the Sale Youth Ensemble, and 1st Trumpet in the North Cheshire Concert Band. He was a member of the Trafford Youth Orchestra, and when he was thirteen, did his first paid 'gig' in South Pacific at the Garrick in Altrincham, Cheshire. His teachers, (besides his Dad!), included John McMurray, Principal Trumpet with the Halle Orchestra.

When Jon left school at the age of eighteen, he went into finance. The unsocial hours left little time for him to pursue his playing. In November 2002, new employment meant that he was able to start playing again. He joined Flixton on 3rd Cornet – he is now playing Rep.
