Matthew Howcroft- Repiano Cornet

Matthew is 13 years old and a pupil at Chethams School of Music where he studies trumpet and cornet with John Dickinson.He started on cornet at the age of 7 and was spotted by Jim Shepherd,who taught him for 3 years until his retirement.He joined Chethams at the age of 9 , but continued having private lessons with Roy Curran.Matthew has been a member of Besses Boys Band, Haslingden and Helmshore,BMP Goodshaw and Elland Silver and has played with Wingates, Besses o th Barn and Todmorden Old.In 2001 Matthew won 1st. prize in the junior section at the British Open. In 2002 Matthew joined Flixton.

Matthew's most Admired Player is Jim Shepherd and his favourite conductor is Roy Curran.
