| 3rd Percussion-
Sylvia Kay
Sylvia
is one of the increasing number of brass players that learnt to play as an adult.
In 1986 she moved to Sheffield and decided to learn to play a brass instrument.
A few years later she finally got her hands on a brass instrument at the late
age of 48.
Sylvia played with Matlock Band for approximately five years and
then with Oughtibridge Band for the next six years. Sylvia then moved across
the Pennines to retire and be close to her family. She then joined Flixton Band
in May 2002 on Baritone.
Sylvia is an avid Manchester City fan and season ticket holder.
Sylvia
has recently taken up the vacant seat of 2nd percussion. So far she has proved
that she is a great asset to the section- long may that continue!

Sylvia's
most memorable banding moment:
"Playing
in the 3rd section finals in the millennium year with Oughtibridge. We were drawn
last - which was disappointing - but we played to a full house!"
