1st Trombone - Sam McAvoy


Sam always wanted to play the trombone but had to wait until his arms were long enough. He filled in his growing time by learning the cello but by the time he was 10 the trombone was reachable.

He has played with the Halle Youth Orchestra, the Warrington Youth Orchestra and Lymm High School’s brass ensembles, including the Brass Quintet. He also enjoys playing in show bands for musical productions.

While he’s been doing all this playing, he’s also been progressing through the ABRSM grades and aims to achieve his Grade 8 in 2011. Although he’s looking at a career in engineering he hopes to continue playing in bands as long as someone will have him.
