3rd Cornet- Mark Blakeson

Coming from a banding family Mark started to play the cornet when he was seven years old. In 1993 he joined the Latchwood Silver Band. Since then he has played for a number of local bands including Birchwood Community Band from 1996-1998 and Warrington Brass during 1996-1998. Mark played for the Successul Wire Brass (2001-2003) and he was part of the winning team that took 2nd place at the Nationals last year in Torquay. Wire Brass gave Mark a real addiction for contesting and he has since came to Flixton strengthening the backrow.

Mark's teachers include Paul Andrews and Lorrie Copper and his interests include playing guitar, drums, piano, singing, and any thing to do with performing!

Mark is currently studying performing arts, drama english and maths at college.

Mark's most memorable
banding moment:

"There are many banding moments that are memorable but the two that are the one that i will always remember are competing in the national finals (2nd Section) with Wire Brass in 2002 which was held in Torquay- we came second! Secondly performing in the stage version of Brassed Off".
