2nd Horn - Mike Brooks

Mike started to learn music when he was at primary school,
(St John's C of E Dukinfield) although he didn't start playing brass until he attended Mossley Hollins High School where he first started to learn the Cornet under Brian Farrar. He then went around every instrument in the band until he settled on Horn. A year later Mike joined Stalybridge B band on 1st horn. After then Mike was offered 2nd horn with Mossley St Johns which whom he played for about 1 and a half years. Mike took a few months out of banding whilst he had braces fitted but found he was missing playing too much and joined Denton Band which was an un-contesting band at the time. Mike played with Denton for 3 1/2 years and also contested with Uppermill and Hazelgrove. Mike regularly travels to help other bands and has guested with bands on band tours -most recently with Carbrook who visited France. Mike has now settled in with Flixton, where he hopes to improve his playing.
