2nd Horn- Alan Crane

Alan was taught Piano from a very early age, into his teens, and was only introduced to Brass Bands aged 17. He Joined Webbank Prize Band (Chorley) on Cornet, the band is now long extinct; he followed this by a move to Coppull Band under the direction of a young Richard Evans. He later moved to Brindle Band, changing instruments to Tenor Horn. He has also played for Hoggath's Band (subsequently sponsored by Warburton's Bakery) and a short but enjoyable and enlightening spell with the St Austell Band (Cornwall)- they certainly love their bands down there!

Alan retired from banding some 15 years ago to get better aquainted with the wife, and now spends every available moment fellwalking either in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales or North Yorkshire Moors.

So what he is doing here at Flixton Band? He has no idea- ask Peter Lockett!

Alan's most memorable
banding moment:

"Listening to his son play his first Solo at a School Concert (Solitare) when he was Principal Cornet of the School Band"
