Reports- St Helens Contest 2005
20th November 2005, Theatre Royal, St Helens
With spirits high from the recent success at Pontins the band made the annual visit to St Helens for the Wilkinson Northern Open. The band was keen to improve on last year's 3rd prize at this contest and, with an impressive performance of Kenneth Downie's 'Purcell Variations', the band took the first prize and was also awarded the William Singleton Memorial Trophy for the 'Best Basses'.
The contest marks the end of the season for 2005 and the band's most successful year to date. The band is proud to have achieved 3 first prizes and a 2nd prize during the last 10 months. With firm foundations for the future the band is looking forward to the start of the next contest season with Preston Guild Hall Contest in Feb 2006. See Photogallery for further images.
