The Band travelled to Rhyl to compete in the 2nd Section of the 'Rhyl Festival for Brass 2004'. Drawn number one the band chose an interesting and varied programme. The Band opened with 'Malaguena'. The piece recieved a good reception with adjudicator, Chris Wormald who stated "A good strident opening" and "overall a good opener and a well rehearsed carillion to close". The band's solo Eb Bass player Peter Lockett followed with an excellent rendition of 'Teddy Bear's Picnic' Pete's perform gained a warm reception from the audience with adjudicators comments including "Good Expression in Soloist- fine sound and control, virtually perfect throughout just the odd note mispitched or not quite reached. Good cadenza and a good close. Well done". The band followed with a salvation army arrangement of the hymn tune 'Colne' and Steven Roberts' big band style arrangement of 'Hello Dolly'. To close the band performed an original compostion for band by Goff Richards, written for the National Youth Band of Switzerland, Rock music III completed the program.
