Reports- Brass at the Guild 2005
6th Feburary 2005- The Guild Hall, Preston.
Preston has brought further success for the band. Competing in the 2nd Section, performing Peter Graham's 'Renaissance', the band were awarded the trophy for the 2nd Prize.
The band started the day with a rehearsal in Leyland. The late-ish draw allowed the band to arrive in Preston with plenty of time to listen a few bands/catch up with old friends. Drawn 9/13 we took the stage at 4pm. The band performed a very pleasing show which went down well with the adjudicator, John Maines. We were awarded 2nd Place for our efforts.
Preston has been an excellent start to 2005, it is credit to the hardwork behind the scenes and the ever-building relationship with our MD, Kevin Gibbs.
Jan 2005 has seen the band move to the 3rd Section for our National grading. Although the band still competes in the 2nd Section at all locally graded contests. Our next contest will be the Regionals in March, where the band will be competing in the 3rd Section. The band is looking forward to the contest where we shall have the opportunity to meet fresh faces, and also the challenge of 'Tam O Shanter's Ride'.
