Contest
Reports- Fleetwood 2003 5th October 2003, Marine Hall, Fleetwood
On
Sunday 5th October the band took the stage at the Marine Hall Fleetwood competing
in the 2nd Section of the North West Counties Brass Band Association Contest.
Playing Kenneth Downies 'Purcell Variations' the band gained a credible 5th Place
with 178 points. The adjudicator, Richard Evans, congratulated the band on "some
great moments" "fine Euph/Eb Bass work" stating "the band
plays the rhythmic changes well" and "fine cornet".
The
Marine Hall, with large Concert Hall and Cambra approved bar was an excellent
choice of venue. The contest hosted 4 sections including a youth section and was
an excellent day for all involved.
The band wishes to thank all members
and supporters for the hard work put in preparing for the contest. A special mention
is to be made to Colin Harding of Dronfield
Band who made an excellent job helping out on Eb Bass.
Finally Flixton
Band would like to congratulate Blackpool, Valley Brass and Hesketh Bank on their
performances and look forward to the next challenge at St Helens in November
