On the 2nd May Flixton travelled down to Buxton to take part in the successful own-choice contest held in the attractive Pavillion Gardens. Flixton took the stage and gave a pleasing performance of Philip Sparke's 'Kaledioscope'. Sparkes music was a popular choice on the day with the winning band, Diggle, also choosing Kaledioscope and 'The Land of the Long White Cloud' featuring in the prizes. The final band in the top four played Goff Richards' 'Hollywood'.
The adjudicator, Roy Roe congratulated all the competing bands on the standard of the performances- stating "all performances were well rehearsed and there was some fantastic playing by every band". The band were pleased to take the 4th Prize at the contest, which was the first outing with their new Musical Director Kevin Gibbs. Kevin took over the band just two weeks before the contest and the band are now looking forward to developing under this new partnership.
