Following from 2006 the band has continued to succeed in the contesting arena, has celebrated it's 130th birthday and appointed a new MD. Evidence again of what a long time a year is in the banding world.
The Contesting Scene...
The band started the year with 5th place at the Butlins and Regionals Championships, but this was followed by a record which, arguably, cannot be rivaled by another band in the country. The band proceeded to take 1st prize in 4 contests in a row. This 4 streak win at Buxton, Kirkby-Lonsdale, Fleetwood and Pontins, resulted in Flixton being ranked 15th in the world in terms of a prize funds won at brass band contests. This rivalled bands such as Faireys and other championship section outfits.
Contesting isn't everything...
Once again the band performed numerous concerts. Most notably the band celebrated 130 years by performing a concert in the presence of the Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Trafford and his Mayoress
The Banding Family..
Horn Player Andy and his Wife Audrey celebrated the birth of their 2nd daughter Orla. Surely, this one is a bass player Andy?
